A face mask is a protective mask covering the nose and mouth or nose and eyes. This is a face mask that can translate into eight different languages which is known as C-FACE smart mask and was developed by Donuts Robotics company, Donuts Robotics is a robot company established by engineers in 2014 in a garage in Fukuoka by Ono who co founded the company with engineer Takafumi Okabe. which during the pandemic period, when it was made mandatory to wear mask, it took the opportunity and came with an innovative idea to create a mask which can translate different languages. The Japanese company released the C-Face smart mask in last year November which has gained interest around the world, with people purchasing from online stores or from their local stores.
The aim of the mask was to make communication and social distancing easier, whereby with an addition of an app the mask can transcribe dictation, amplify wear’s voice and translate into eight languages. The mask isn’t designed to prevent corona virus rather enable communication, this is due to the cutouts on the front which enable breathability. It is designed to be worn over standard face mask. it is made of white plastic and silicone, it has a microphone which connects to the wearers smartphone via Bluetooth technology. the mask can translate to eight languages which include; Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Indonesian, English, Spanish, and French.
The donut robotics company first designed the software for a robot called Cinnamon which when the pandemic striked the project was put on hold generating the idea of C-Face Smart mask. The success from the mask has prompted the company to relocate to Tokyo.
